Vivo – Clever Trick-Taking Card Game by Allplay
Can you find the right note to win the trick? Vivo is a fast and clever trick-taking card game from Allplay where the rules for scoring change from round to round.
Each round introduces a new Harmony – Solo, Duet, Trio or Quartet – changing how many suits need to be represented for cards to count. The clever twist? Both the highest and lowest qualifying cards can score, creating a constant battle between playing big and knowing when to hold back.
For 3–4 players aged 10+, with games taking around 20 minutes, Vivo is a fantastic compact card game for game nights, holidays and quick sessions.
What Is Vivo?
Vivo is a trick-taking card game from Allplay's Tiny Box series. It takes the familiar foundations of trick-taking and adds a variable Harmony system that changes the way every trick is scored.
The result is an accessible game that's easy to learn but gives you plenty to think about. You aren't simply trying to play the highest card – sometimes the smartest move is to play low and score valuable points from the bottom of the trick.
How to Play
At the start of each round, reveal a Harmony Card showing Solo, Duet, Trio or Quartet. This determines how many different suits must be played in a trick for cards to be considered "on-harmony".
The lead player starts the trick with any card. Other players follow the Harmony where possible. Once everyone has played, the highest on-harmony card scores 2 points, while the lowest on-harmony card scores points equal to its card value.
Cards played off-harmony don't score, so timing and hand management are crucial. You also get information about the next Harmony in advance, allowing you to plan your upcoming plays.
