Free Children's Gaming Club Helston
Free Children's Gaming Club Helston — Weekly Sessions for Ages 5 to 18
If you're looking for a children's gaming club in Helston, you've found it. Our free youth gaming sessions at Roll The Dice Cornwall are open to children and young people aged 5 to 18, run every week, and cost absolutely nothing to attend. No experience needed. No kit required. Just turn up.
We started as a free Warhammer club for a handful of kids in a chapel hall. Today, we've welcomed more than 100 children and young people through our doors, and we have over 40 regular members. The sessions work because they're genuinely welcoming — not in a corporate "come on in!" kind of way, but in the way that only happens when a community actually cares about the people who show up.
When Are the Sessions?
The Breaney Sessions — every Thursday, 4–6pm
This is our flagship free session. Board games, tabletop games, and general hang-out time for children and young people. No structure beyond the fact that everyone has fun. Bring nothing, know nothing, just come.
What to Expect on Your First Visit
We know the first time can feel a bit daunting, for parents and children alike. Here's what you'll actually find when you walk through the door.
You'll be greeted by one of our DBS-checked volunteers, all of whom receive annual Level 2 safeguarding training. It's a relaxed, busy space — there'll be tables of games going on, children chatting, dice being rolled, probably someone very intensely painting a miniature. It's colourful and a little chaotic in the best possible way.
Your child doesn't need to know anything about gaming. They don't need to bring anything — we provide all the models, materials, and games. If they're nervous, that's completely fine. So are half the kids who walk in for the first time. Within twenty minutes, most of them have forgotten they were nervous.
We do ask that a parent or guardian stays for the first session, just so you can see how it all works and meet the team. After that, you're welcome to drop off and collect.
Free Kids Gaming Cornwall — We Mean Genuinely Free
We want to be clear about this, because it matters: The Breaney Sessions are free. Completely. No membership fee, no material costs, no donation jar at the door. We provide models, paints, and game materials for children to use and take home.
We can afford to do this because Roll The Dice Cornwall is a Community Interest Company. Every penny of profit from our gaming shop goes straight back into community programmes like this one. When someone buys a board game or a Warhammer kit from us, they're funding a free session for a young person. That's the model, and it works.
Neurodivergent-Friendly and Genuinely Inclusive
All of our sessions are neurodivergent-friendly. That's not a box we tick — it's baked into how we run things. Tabletop gaming is genuinely one of the most inclusive social activities out there: there's always something for different processing styles, different energy levels, and different ways of engaging. We work with whatever your child needs.
We are a judgment-free space. Every background, every ability level, every interest is welcome here.
Warhammer for Kids
Roll The Dice started as a free children's Warhammer club, and it remains a big part of what we do. If your child is curious about Warhammer but you're not sure it's for them, our sessions are the perfect low-stakes way to find out. We have models to try, experienced players who love introducing newcomers to the hobby, and absolutely zero gatekeeping.
