What Is Unmatched: Battle of Legends, Volume 3?

Unmatched is a tactical miniature fighting game where legendary characters face off on a shared battlefield.

Volume 3 brings four unusual heroes together:

• Blackbeard – the infamous pirate, supported by two Sea Dogs and his collection of doubloons

• Chupacabra – the legendary creature from South American folklore

• Pandora – the mysterious figure who unleashes the contents of her legendary box

• Loki – the Norse trickster god, manipulating the battle with cards and deception

Blackbeard, Chupacabra and Loki were all runners-up in the original Unmatched deck-design contest, making this volume a particularly eclectic collection of fighters.

Volume 3 is also the third and final Battle of Legends set, although it remains fully compatible with the wider Unmatched system.

How to Play Unmatched: Battle of Legends, Volume 3

1. Choose Your Hero

Select one of the four fighters and take their miniature, character card, health dial, action deck and any supporting tokens or cards.

2. Choose a Battlefield

The double-sided board provides two new battlefields:

• Santa's Workshop

• Venice

Santa's Workshop introduces special movement features including one-way paths and conveyor-belt movement, adding another tactical consideration to the standard Unmatched system.

3. Move and Take Actions

On your turn, use your actions to move, attack or scheme. Position your hero and sidekicks carefully to control the battlefield and set up attacks.

4. Battle with Cards

When you attack, your opponent chooses a defence card. Reveal the cards and resolve their values and effects.

There are no combat dice determining the outcome. Instead, card choice, timing, positioning and prediction are central to every confrontation.

5. Use Your Hero's Special Abilities

Each fighter has a unique deck and abilities that reflect their character.

Blackbeard manipulates doubloons, Pandora works with her Box of Miseries, Loki can manipulate cards, while Chupacabra rewards aggressive attacks.

6. Defeat the Enemy Hero

Reduce your opponent's hero to zero health and win the battle.

Meet the Four Heroes

Blackbeard

Chupacabra

The mysterious cryptid is a direct and aggressive fighter. Chupacabra becomes increasingly dangerous as the battle progresses, with abilities that reward attacking and exploiting opportunities.

Pandora

Pandora draws on the legendary Box of Miseries, using special Misery cards to introduce additional effects and tactical possibilities. Her Kakodæmon sidekicks add further options to her game plan.

Loki

The Norse Trickster brings deception and card manipulation to the battlefield. Loki's unique abilities make him very different from the more straightforward fighters in the set.
