What Is Unmatched: Battle of Legends, Volume 1?

Unmatched is a tactical skirmish game where legendary characters face off on a shared battlefield.

This first Battle of Legends set features four very different heroes:

• King Arthur – the legendary knight, accompanied by Merlin
• Medusa – the mythical Gorgon, supported by three Harpies
• Sinbad the Sailor – the legendary adventurer, accompanied by his Porter
• Alice – the heroine of Wonderland, accompanied by the Jabberwock

Every hero has their own action deck, abilities, strengths and weaknesses. The result is an asymmetric fighting game where learning how your chosen hero works is only half the challenge — you also need to understand how to counter your opponent.

How to Play Unmatched: Battle of Legends

1. Choose Your Hero

Select one of the four legendary characters and take their miniature, character card, health dial, sidekick tokens and unique deck.

2. Move Into Position

The battlefield is divided into spaces and combat zones. Position your hero and sidekicks carefully to get within attack range, escape danger or prepare your next move.

3. Take Two Actions

On your turn, you perform two actions. Your cards allow you to:

• Move
• Attack
• Scheme

You can perform the same action twice or choose two different actions.

4. Attack and Defend

When an attack is launched, the attacker and defender select cards. The cards are revealed and their values and effects are resolved.

This means combat isn't determined by dice. Instead, you need to manage your hand, anticipate your opponent and decide when to commit your strongest cards.

5. Use Your Hero's Abilities

Every character has their own deck and special powers. Some heroes excel at close combat, while others can attack from range or use supporting characters to control the battlefield.

6. Defeat Your Opponent

Reduce your opponent's hero to zero health and claim victory.

King Arthur

The legendary British king brings powerful attacks and the magical Merlin to the battlefield. Arthur rewards careful card management and well-timed attacks.

Medusa

Medusa combines ranged attacks with her deadly gaze and a group of Harpy sidekicks. She can control the battlefield while threatening opponents from a distance.

Sinbad the Sailor

Sinbad becomes stronger as his journey progresses. His Voyage cards can provide increasingly powerful effects, while his Porter supports him in battle.

Alice

Alice brings the unpredictable world of Wonderland into the arena. Her size can change, affecting her abilities and providing different tactical options, while the Jabberwock supports her in combat.

The four heroes each have 30 unique action cards, with their own miniatures, character cards and supporting components.
