What Is Love Letter?

Love Letter is a fast, compact card game built around deduction, hand management, risk and player elimination.

Each player holds just one card at a time. On your turn, draw another card, choose one of the two to play and resolve its character ability.

That's it — but those tiny decisions create plenty of tension.

Every card represents someone connected to the Princess, from powerful members of the royal court to less influential characters. Knowing which cards have already been played, which cards your opponents might hold and when to use your own card's ability is the key to success.

How to Play Love Letter

At the start of a round, each player receives one character card.

On your turn:

1. Draw one card from the deck.

2. Choose one card to play.

3. Resolve its ability.

4. Keep the remaining card in your hand.

Character abilities allow you to make educated guesses, protect yourself, trade cards, force opponents to discard or otherwise manipulate the situation.

The round ends when either all but one player has been eliminated or the deck runs out.

If only one player remains, they win the round. If the deck runs out first, the player holding the highest-value character wins.

Earn enough Favour across multiple rounds and you become the Princess's confidant — winning the game.
