Kingdomino – Award-Winning Kingdom Building Board Game

Build your kingdom, choose your territories and become the most powerful ruler! Kingdomino by Blue Orange is a fast and accessible tile-laying strategy game that combines the familiar idea of dominoes with kingdom building, clever drafting and tactical scoring.

Choose your lands carefully, connect matching landscapes and use valuable crowns to turn your territories into points. Easy to learn but full of smart decisions, Kingdomino is a fantastic family board game for 2–4 players aged 8+, with games taking around 15–25 minutes.

What Is Kingdomino?

Kingdomino is a domino-style tile-laying board game designed by Bruno Cathala. Each player is building their own kingdom from different types of terrain, including forests, fields, lakes, grasslands, swamps and mines.

The aim is to create large connected areas of the same landscape. The bigger your territory, the more it can score – but only territories containing valuable crown symbols generate points.

The result is a simple-looking game with plenty of tactical depth, where every tile you choose can affect both your kingdom and your next turn.

How to Play

Each round, several domino-shaped landscape tiles are available. Players take turns choosing one, placing their king on it to reserve it for the next round.

When adding a domino to your kingdom, at least one side must connect to a matching landscape. You need to build carefully within your kingdom's grid while trying to create large, valuable territories.

There's a clever catch: the more desirable the tile you choose, the later you may get to choose next round. Taking a powerful tile now could mean losing first choice later.

At the end of the game, score each connected landscape by multiplying the number of spaces in that territory by the number of crowns it contains.

Why You'll Love It

  • Easy to learn – Simple domino-style rules make it great for new players.

  • Surprisingly strategic – Every tile involves decisions about positioning and timing.

  • Quick to play – Most games take around 15–25 minutes.

  • Brilliant family game – Accessible for children while remaining engaging for adults.

  • Clever drafting – Your tile choice also affects future turn order.

  • Beautiful kingdom building – Create a unique landscape every game.

  • Award-winning design – A modern classic of family board gaming.
