What Is Dixit?

In Dixit, every player has a hand of mysterious, dreamlike illustrations with no words or instructions on them. On your turn, you become the Storyteller, choosing one card from your hand and giving a clue based on the image.

The other players secretly choose cards from their own hands that they think could also match your clue. All the chosen cards are shuffled and revealed, then everyone votes on which card belongs to the Storyteller.

The clever part is finding the right balance. If everyone recognises your card, your clue was too obvious. If nobody does, it was probably too obscure.

How to Play

Choose a card from your hand and announce a word, phrase, sound, quotation or idea inspired by the illustration.

The other players select one card from their own hands that they think best matches your clue. All the chosen cards are shuffled and revealed.

Players then secretly vote for the card they believe was originally chosen by the Storyteller.

You score points when some, but not all, players identify your card. Players also score when someone votes for their own cleverly chosen decoy card.

After scoring, everyone draws back up to their hand size and the next player becomes Storyteller.
