What Is Brick Like This!?

Brick Like This! is a team-based LEGO building party game from Dotted Games.

Each team has two roles:

• The Instructor – sees the Shape Card and describes the model

• The Builder – listens carefully and constructs the model

There's a catch: the Instructor cannot simply show the Builder what to do.

The Builder is the only player who can touch the LEGO bricks, while the Instructor has to communicate the design using words alone.

Meanwhile, everyone else is doing exactly the same thing.

The result is a frantic race to build, communicate and finish before the other teams.

How to Play Brick Like This!

The standard game is played over six rounds, with all teams playing at the same time.

1. Choose Your Teams

Players form teams of two, with one Instructor and one Builder.

If you're playing with children and adults, the rules recommend pairing a child with an adult where possible.

For games with 5 or 7 players, one team can have three players, allowing players to rotate between the Instructor, Builder and Observer roles.

2. Choose a Shape Card

Each team selects a Shape Card.

Cards are divided into four difficulty levels based on the number on the back:

5, 6, 7 or 8.

The number represents the minimum number of LEGO bricks required for the model and the Shape Points available for successfully completing it.

The easier 5-value cards even show outlines of the bricks, making them particularly useful for younger or newer players.

3. Start Building!

The Instructors reveal their Shape Cards and immediately start describing their models.

The Builders then have to construct them using the instructions they hear.

But remember:

No pointing.

Only the Builder can touch the bricks.

The Instructor cannot show the Shape Card.

This is where the chaos begins.

4. Shout “DONE!”

When a team believes they've finished, they shout “DONE!”

They stop building and flip the 30-second sand timer.

The other teams now have 30 seconds to complete their models.

When the timer runs out, everyone stops.

5. Check the Models

Each team places its completed LEGO model on the Shape Card.

If it matches, the team earns the Shape Points shown on the card.

If it doesn't match, no points are awarded.

Then everything comes apart and the next round begins.

After six rounds, the team with the most points wins.

The Challenge Cards

Once you've mastered the basic game, introduce the 20 Challenge Cards for even more chaos.
