The governors house burned.
Clad in ancient armour, the Master of the Thornbound led his companions through its shell. They moved slowly through the ruins, huge combi-bolters swinging left and right. Signs of rot and decay hung everywhere, along with bodies of house staff and xenos Tau. Every now and then, grotesque armoured forms of the death guard lay amongst the dead. The mad king curled his lip in distaste; aside from a brief skirmish with the Tau scum, he had yet to find an enemy worth his attention.
His distaste turned to frustration as he found the body of the governor, burnt and battered, and marked not by Odium, but by the followers of the Plague God.
He gave vent to his frustration, a wordless scream of rage that echoed through the ruins.
And yet, no matter how loud, it could not drown out the laugh of Grandfather Nurgle.
